Lucy Yeates Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney on Dec. 2, 2024.
Lucy Jayne Yeates, 18 years young of Kearney, Missouri passed away tragically on November 17, 2024 as the result of an auto accident.
We will be honoring Lucy in a Celebration of Life on December 7th at 11:00 am at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, Missouri; 1600 rte 291.
Born on August 11th, 2006 she arrived 6 minutes after her twin sister Aubrey Kendall Yeates, who is healing from the same accident. Lucy's life will continue to be celebrated by her father Samuel Troy Yeates, her mother Mandy Renee Yeates, her oldest sister Hailee Renee Yeates, her older sister Alyx Marie Yeates and her little sister Josie Hadyn Yeates. Our family motto of we are the "Circle of Seven", will always be.
Lucy was brilliant from a young age, reading at a 5th grade level entering Kindergarten. She joined STEM (science, technology, engineering and math program), in grade school in Colorado, where our family "moved to vacation" when the twins were 3 years old. Having teenagers and toddlers, anything outdoors just worked. Lucy loved trail hiking and especially our annual spring hikes in Moab. She participated in debate club and lettered in soccer at Twin Peaks Charter Academy.
Upon moving back home to Kansas City her sophomore year, she joined the Chick fil A family as one of the youngest hires at the Liberty store. She loved every minute of her experiences there, working hard to earn a pathway in leadership, she spent many nights after work with her new friends laughing and playing. We are pretty sure Lucy was 54th Street's MVP of Rattle Snake Pasta; no peppers, extra sauce, thank you.
Lucy graduated Kearney Highschool this past May, with honors and with esteemed recognition from the Missouri House of Representatives for outstanding achievement. As well, she was bestowed the title of "Best Hair" by her classmates. She earned scholarships for good attendance and a high GPA to support her first year of college prerequisites. Lucy could argue anything with ferocity and "on point" facts with accurate assessments of a situation. She was determining how best, to use this skill for her future career.
Lucy was transitioning from childhood to young adult, enjoying an incredible love in her new relationship. She was discovering the finer things and worked very hard so she could have them. Her smile was as magical as her sparkling eyes were warm. She lit up a room with her brilliant, witty and funny self. Loochy, Lulu, Loody, all nicknames by her sisters, will remain The Yeates Family's illuminated angel and protector for always.
