It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lucy Young, age 96, on 12/20/2025.
Lucy Lujan Young was born on 11/04/1929 in Albuquerque, NM. She was a proud member of the deaf community and graduated from the New Mexico School for Deaf. She was employed at GTE-Lenkurt for nine years. Her warm spirit and infectious sense of humor will be missed.
She is survived by her three daughters and their (spouses): Freda (Manuel) Jaramillo, Lorraine (Rudy) Benavidez, and Nestorita (Dennis) Villanueva.
She is survived by her grandchildren and their (spouses): Maxine (Jeff) Baca, Freddie (Monica) Jaramillo, Vincent (Crystal) Jaramillo and Gary (Nisha) Benavidez. She was preceded in death by grandson Ben Benavidez.
She is survived by her sixteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on January 15, 2026 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 309 Stover Avenue SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
