Luene Lou Hayes

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Luene "Lou" Hayes, a treasured mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, and friend, who peacefully passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Flat Rock, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer and Helen Powell. Luene's spirit was as vibrant as her laughter, and she brought joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Luene's life was a testament to the fun of family and the joy of connection. She created a nurturing home for her children, Tammy (Kim) Perkins, Eddie (Mikki) Hayes, and late Rodney Hayes, who will forever carry her spirit within their hearts. As a grandmother, she was a source of laughter for her grandchildren: Tina Perkins, Joshua (Lindsey) Perkins, Tonya Webster, Tiffany Perkins, Joey Perkins, Emilee (Nick) Knochel, Daniel Hayes, Sara Hayes, and Matthew Hayes. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Samuel, Joey, James, Isiah, Benjamin, William, Nathaniel, Giovanna, Leonidas, Kira, Lilly, Chase, Coltin, Aubree, and Carson, as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Anthony Jr. and Kane. Luene shared a special bond with her siblings, late Robert "late Roberta" Powell, Lester (Barb) Powell, and her late brother, Edward Dean Powell. She treasured her relationships with friends and family and is now reunited with many who have gone before her, joining them in eternal peace.

Throughout her life, Luene dedicated many years to her work in a factory for Formica, and later at Lake Nina, where her laughter and caring nature brought joy to those around her. Her favorite moments included gathering with friends at casino and indulging in video poker. During her time at Taylor Point Nursing Home, she continued to shine brightly, participating in events and even being honored as Queen at one of their celebrations. Her tell-it-like-it-is attitude and humor were unmatched, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

To celebrate Luene's life, a memorial service will be held at Frederick Funeral Home, located at 2553 Banning Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239, on Friday, November 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.

As her family and friends gather to honor her memory, we reflect on a life well-lived, one filled with laughter, love, and countless precious memories. Luene will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her, and her spirit will live on through the stories that will be shared for generations to come.
