Lugene Scott Obituary

Published by Ideal Funeral Parlor - Florence on Jul. 11, 2017.
Four score and seven years ago, the late James and Willie Mae Scott became the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy, Lugene Scott. Mr. Lugene, a gentleman whose life was not flawed by age but increased by wisdom, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at home surrounded by family in Florence, South Carolina. Lugene began his life journey on December 29, 1929 in Tampa, Florida. Upon his mother’s death, he was raised by his stepmother, Mrs. Nancy Brown Scott and his father in Kingstree, South Carolina. Lugene was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County. He was formerly employed as a talented metallurgist and plant manager at American Fine Wine in Selma, Alabama until his retirement. After retiring, he relocated to Florence, South Carolina for his remaining years. At an early age, Mr. Scott joined St. Paul United Methodist Church. After returning home from New York and Alabama, he renewed his membership, and served as a member of the Senior Choir. He was a faithful member until his death. On September 3, 1949, he married Mary Jane Shaw-Scott, and to this union four boys were born. They were blessed to share 59 years of marriage before God called Mary home. Mr. Scott leaves to mourn his passing: four sons: Argene (Bridget) Scott of Old Orchard Beach, ME; Mitchell (Valerie) Scott of Wichita, KS; Kim (Kathy) Scott of Florence, SC; and Miles Scott of Sumter, SC; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; five sisters: Lola Boyd of Kingstree, SC; Caletha Brown of Lady Lake, FL; Amie Gray of Kissimmee, FL; Helen Smith of Leesburg, FL; Delores Hendricks and Sylvia Daniels of Kissimmee, FL; two brothers, John Scott and Roosevelt (Myra) Scott of Kissimmee, FL; two sisters-in-law, Janice Shaw of NC and Willie Mae Shaw of Kingstree, SC; and a host of other loved ones and friends.

To the family of my beloved cousin and dearest Friend God only ask us to do our best, then he takes over and finishes the rest. To the family of my beloved cousin and dearest friend, I want to express my deepest sympathy in the loss of your love one, father, brother, uncle , friend and all who mourn his passing. I’m deeply saddened that I cannot be there with you in person. I am with you in spirit, heart and keenly aware of your loss. Brother and I were friends since we were little children. When he became engaged, he shared with me the plan for his new life. I can say that we were each other’s confidant and loved each other like brother and sister. After both of us had families we always found the time to visit each other and shared in each other moments. The name “Brother” was always appropriate for me because he was close to me like a brother. And to his sons, miss him but remember God has work for him to do. On the day he was born God said, I will go and prepare a place for you on July 2017; I will come and receive you unto myself, that where I am there you maybe also. On July 2017, the Lord came to receive him. Rest in peace Brother, rest in peace! Your cousin and beloved friend,

Hansel and Nancy Carmon
