Luis A. Bendezu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luis Bendezu on November 3, 2025, at the age of 90. Luis passed away quietly at his home in Naples, Florida after a long illness.

Luis was born in Lima, Peru on December 9, 1934 to Jesus Armando and Amalia (Nee Molinari) Bendezu. He was the youngest of 9 children. He attended Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Lima and then the University of Miami in Coral Gables.

In 1970, he and his young family emigrated to the US and originally settled in Hartford, CT. He worked as an accountant for the State of Connecticut until his retirement and moved to Florida with his wife after she retired.

Luis was an avid soccer fan and loved to play his guitar. He was hardworking, kind, funny and generous to everyone he met. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ada, Rosa, Beatriz, Cesarina, Bertha, Elena, and Delia as well as by his youngest son Robert.

He is survived by his loving wife Maria (nee Ludena), his two children Luis Bendezu and Leslie Martin, his son-in-law David Martin, his grandchildren, Julia Martin, Amelia Martin, Liam Bendezu, Bridget Bendezu, and Ryan Bendezu, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 17, 2025 at 10AM, directly at St. Joseph Church, Queen St., Bristol, CT followed by a procession to St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to The Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org in Luis' name.
