Luis Cantarero Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Leal Funeral Home - West Houston on Mar. 16, 2026.
Luis Alonso Cantarero, of North Bergen, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1943, in La Esperanza, Honduras, and immigrated to New Jersey in 1969. Shortly thereafter, he met Maria Gutierrez, and the two were married in March 1970. Maria joined him in eternal rest on March 12, 2026.

Luis dedicated more than 30 years to the embroidery industry and was known for his tireless work ethic. Beyond his profession, he was a skilled handyman who generously offered his talents to family and friends, whether through car repairs or household projects. Though he missed his calling as a carpenter, his craftsmanship lives on in the many pieces he created for his loved ones, including a train table, bookcases, and storage trunks. He also took pride in teaching many family members to drive, a gift that will be remembered by generations.

In retirement, Luis found his greatest joy in caring for and spending time with his grandchildren, who were the center of his life.
He is survived by his son, Luis G. Cantarero, and daughter-in-law, Maria; his daughter, Glenda Dietz; and five beloved grandchildren, Emily and Andrew Cantarero, and Owen, Sean, and Sara Dietz. He is also survived by his sisters, Maria Eisenhower and Thelma; sister-in-law, Olga Gonzalez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Luis's memory to CurePSP (https://www.psp.org/)

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family is deeply grateful for the love and support during this time.
