Luis "El Gato" Bañuelos Obituary

Published by Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home and Cremation Service on May 31, 2017.
Luis G. Banuelos began his journey on August 25, 1937 and passed away on May 31, 2017. He was a loving husband to Maria Elena Banuelos whom he married on November 6, 1957. Together they had their beautiful children: Martha, Emelia, Maria Luisa, Vicky, Luis Felipe, Maria Elena, and Armando. He was also a grandfather and Great grandfather to Luis "Monchies", Eddie, Victoria, Louie, Daniel, Luisandres, Luis JR, Gabriela, and Joey. Luis was born in Ayutla, Jalisco Mexico, to Felipe Banuelos Montes and Emelia Banuelos Guitron. He migrated to the United States in the year of 1956 and the first job he obtained was as a florist. After his job as a florist he worked for a restaurant where he was a food preparer and learned how to cook. In the year 1972, he finally opened his first Restaurant called El Palenque and many others such as Ayutla, La Posta, and Guadalajara. He also worked as a longshoreman for over 50 years. While working at the restaurants, Luis gained many friendships and was loved by many. Some of his passions in life were music, singing, cracking jokes with his family and friends, Cadillac cars, and he enjoyed sitting on the couch watching his novelas with a glass of red wine in company of his Chihuahua "Mini." Luis would enjoy giving nicknames to everyone. He had a nickname for almost everyone and his nickname that he was known by was "El Gato." Although Luis is gone, he left a legacy behind that will never be forgotten. He left many memories with his family and friends that will be cherished for a lifetime. His beautiful voice will remain in our hearts forever.

Our sympathy to the BANUELOS family. My dad once told me "mija the smart ones leave first to organize heaven for the rest of the family", when my dad left this world I truly believe he was right, and Mr. Banuelos is probably enjoying a glass of wine with my dad, Mr. Banuelos was one of a kind, they certainly do not make them like him anymore, he will be missed truly SF LA MISSION loses another great man. God bless the family and may he give you the strength in these difficult moments, a hug to Mrs. Banuelos. Con Carino Leo y Sylvia Mondragon-Fernandez

Sincere condolences to the family. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure in your heart and it lives forever. May the wonderful treasures fill your hearts with love and bring you peace, Hosea 13:14.
