Luis G Losada Jr., a cherished partner, beloved father, and proud grandfather, passed away on May 17, 2025, in Old Bridge, NJ, at the age of 87. Born on November 25, 1937, in Santiago De Cuba, Cuba to Juana and Luis G Losada Sr., Luis's journey brought him from the vibrant streets of his homeland to the diverse communities of New York and New Jersey, where he built a life marked by dedication, joy, and the love of his family and friends.
Luis' early years in Santiago De Cuba were filled with the rich culture and spirited life of the island. At the age of 19, he embarked on a new chapter, moving to New York and soon after joining the U.S. Army. His service to his country was honorable and distinguished, with Luis stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, Fort Hood, TX, and Camp Drum, NY, from November 1961 until his discharge in February 1965. Following his military service, Luis relocated to Union County, NJ, and later settled in Monmouth County in 2000 with his loving partner of 25 years, Isa Kim.
Luis' professional life was characterized by his role as a computer operator at ADP, from which he retired after years of dedicated service. His work ethic and commitment to his role were a testament to his character, and he was well-respected by his colleagues and peers.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Luis was a man of many passions. He held a deep connection to his Cuban roots, staying informed about the island's current affairs and often reminiscing about his early life there. His love for Spanish music and dancing was infectious, and he could often be found swaying to the rhythm of a salsa or rumba tune. Luis was also an avid fan of novellas, immersing himself in the drama and romance.
A true sports enthusiast, Luis's loyalty to the New York Mets was unwavering. He relished the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of fellow fans. His green thumb was evident in the lush vegetable and flower gardens he tended with care, and his love for shopping was matched only by his impressive collection of hats, ranging from fishing hats and fedoras to baseball caps.
Luis's memory was very sharp; he was known for his ability to recall stories and details with remarkable clarity. He was a proud grandfather who delighted in sharing advice and tales of his travels with his grandchildren. His stories were not just accounts of past adventures but lessons imbued with the wisdom of experience.
Luis is survived by his devoted partner, Isa Kim; his beloved daughter, Lisette Losada, and her husband, John Mezias; his grandchildren, Alexandra and Michael Mezias, Rick Caban and his wife Cassidy, and Andre Caban and his wife Jaye; his niece, Marilyn Venzal; and Isa's daughters, Jennifer Caban and her husband Anthony, and Natalie Kim and her husband Steve Stoop. Each of them were a source of immense pride and joy for Luis, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire them.
Luis' memory will be treasured by all who knew him, and his stories will echo through generations.
