Luis Manuel Luyo

Luis Manuel Luyo, of East Boston, passed away peacefully surrounded by

his loving family on February 11, 2026.

Born on April 29, 1935, in Lima, Peru, Luis Manuel was a devoted

husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who lived a life

defined by love, sacrifice, and dedication to his family. He was the

beloved husband of 68 years to Julia Elena Luyo, with whom he shared a

lifetime of cherished memories.

Luis Manuel was the first in his family to immigrate to the United

States in 1970 and proudly became a citizen, paving the way for future

generations of his family. His courage, determination, and hard work

created opportunities for his children and grandchildren, leaving a

lasting legacy of perseverance and strength.

Born to Vicente Luyo Ponce and Felicita Quintana, he was predeceased

by his beloved siblings Vicente ("Tito"), Leila, Jorge, José ("Pepe"),

Guillermo ("Memo"), Ada, and Juan José. Luis Manuel was the loving

father of Elena Milagros and her husband Lucio Durand, Luis Antonio,

Elena Melba, and Luis Manuel Luyo Jr. He was the cherished grandfather

of Luis Orlando Durand and his wife Ana Maria, Vanessa Durand and her husband, Lucia Durand, Nicole Gemba, and Valerie Gemba, and the proud

great-grandfather of Analee, Andrew, Matthew, Kaylee, Nicholas,

Sophia, and Julian. Luis Manuel also held a special place in his heart

for his beloved pets, Cooper and Teddy.

Family and friends will honor Luis Manuel's life by gathering at

Ruggiero Family Memorial Home on Thursday, February 19th from 4:00 PM

to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday morning at 8:30 AM before leaving in

procession to Most Holy Redeemer Church for a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.

Luis Manuel will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery.

Luis Manuel will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family

and friends, his pioneering spirit, and the enduring impact he made on

all who knew him. He was the heart of his family and took pride in

keeping them together. His legacy will continue to live on through

the generations he so proudly inspired.

amorosa familia, el 11 de febrero de 2026.

Nacido el 29 de abril de 1935 en Lima, Perú, Luis Manuel fue un

esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo dedicado, que vivió una vida marcada

por el amor, el sacrificio y la entrega a su familia. Fue el amado

esposo durante 68 años de Julia Elena Luyo, con quien compartió una

vida llena de recuerdos entrañables.

Luis Manuel fue el primero de su familia en emigrar a los Estados

Unidos en 1970 y con orgullo se convirtió en ciudadano, abriendo

camino para las futuras generaciones de su familia. Su valentía,

determinación y arduo trabajo crearon oportunidades para sus hijos y

Hijo de Vicente Luyo Ponce y Felicita Quintana, fue precedido en la

muerte por sus queridos hermanos Vicente ("Tito"), Leila, Jorge, José

("Pepe"), Guillermo ("Memo"), Ada y Juan José. Luis Manuel fue el

amoroso padre de Elena Milagros y su esposo Lucio Durand, Luis

Antonio, Elena Melba y Luis Manuel Luyo Jr. Fue el querido abuelo de

Luis Orlando Durand y su esposa Ana María, Vanessa Durand y su esposo,

Lucía Durand, Nicole Gemba y Valerie Gemba, y el orgulloso bisabuelo

de Analee, Andrew, Matthew, Kaylee, Nicholas, Sophia y Julian. Luis

Manuel también guardaba un lugar especial en su corazón para sus

queridas mascotas, Cooper y Teddy.

Familiares y amigos honrarán la vida de Luis Manuel reuniéndose en la

funeraria Ruggiero Family Memorial Home el jueves 19 de febrero de

4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., y nuevamente el viernes por la mañana a las

8:30 a.m., antes de partir en procesión hacia la iglesia Most Holy

Redeemer para una Misa de funeral a las 10:00 a.m. Luis Manuel será

sepultado en el cementerio Lakeside.

Luis Manuel será recordado por su amor inquebrantable hacia su familia

y amigos, su espíritu pionero y el impacto duradero que dejó en todos

los que lo conocieron. Fue el corazón de su familia y se enorgullecía

de mantenerla unida. Su legado continuará viviendo a través de las

generaciones que con tanto orgullo inspiró.
