Luke Anthony Ditta, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 11, 2024, at the age of 81. Known for his boundless generosity and unwavering kindness, Luke was a man who would help at the drop of a hat, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warm hugs and bright smiles were a comforting presence, and he never hesitated to speak the truth with love and care.
He was devoted to his wife, Jacqueline, of 58 years, taking exceptional care of her and always sharing stories and memories of their deep love and commitment to each other.
Luke's giving nature knew no bounds. He was a devoted man of faith, attending church faithfully and living his life in service to others. For 50 years, Luke and his family called the Sagemont neighborhood their home, creating a haven for their children and their friends. Their home was a second home to many, and Luke and Jacqueline were like parents to all their sons' friends.
A brilliant electrician at Leggio Electric for over 60 years, he earned widespread respect and admiration. Always ready to help, his expertise made a difference in countless lives.
Luke's greatest joy came from his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him PawPaw. He loved them dearly, and it became a treasured tradition for him to call each grandchild the night before school started and sing "School Bells Ringing".
Luke was born on June 4, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to parents Joe William Ditta and Mary Josephine (Rizzo) Ditta. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jacqueline (Mandola) Ditta; his children Joseph and wife Tracy, Sam and wife Tammy, and Luke Jr.; and former daughter-in law Debby; brother, Frank Ditta and wife Lola, grandchildren Taylor Cubbage, Joshua Cubbage, Kamryn Ditta, Presley Ives (husband Andrew), Payton Ditta, Beau Ditta, Nash Ditta and Nina Ditta; great grandchildren, Grayson Ives and Ellie Ives; along with numerous extended family and friends. Preceded in death are his parents Joe Ditta, Mary Ditta, and his sister, Theresa Ditta.
All services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at St. Luke The Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 10:55 AM. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 AM with a reception to be held in Luke's honor immediately following Mass in the church social hall.
Graveside service for family and close friends will then follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX 77023 at 3 PM.
Luke will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
