I wish to add condolences to Luke´s family and friends. The obituary touched me due to Luke´s life mirroring my own son´s who will be attending GW in the fall. I will remember Luke´s story and hold my son a little closer. Peace to you all and especially to Sarah.

The first day of my American presidency class this semester luke asked if he could sit in the desk next to me. The rest of the semester was filled with him making remarkably intelligent comments that always left me thinking "why didn´t I think of that", a smile he brought to class everyday, little comments he would make about the class to me that would leave me giggling, and him encouraging me to share more of my thoughts to the class. On the last day of class we walked out together and I told him I think he should run for president some day. I could tell how special of a person he was from the small amount of time I spent with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Luke was blessed to have your love and knowledge to help him cope and excel in numerous areas as he struggled with this most challenging condition.
Through his accomplishments, he leaves a legacy which will continue to positively affect the lives of numerous people as well as future generations.

Words are inadequate to express our sorrow for your unfathomable loss.

What a shock, what a loss, what a tragedy! Phrases in a few languages come to mind: es fehlen die Woerter (German) or brak slow (Polish) - that can be translated along the lines of "I am at a loss for words."

Luke was a student in my U.S. Foreign Policy course at GW. He was such a cheerful, engaged, and enthusiastic student. He was constantly raising his hand and contributing to the discussion. He was such a joy to have in class, always adding interesting and important perspectives and advancing the subject at hand. I remember running into him a couple of times on campus and his cheer would brighten my day.

My deepest sympathies to Luke´s family. I only knew him from one class but from that perspective he was a terrific young man. My deepest condolences and requiescat in pace. Matt Boyse

Dear family especially Mrs Sarah Wienecke. Thank you for revealing Luke´s struggle with bipolar. As a woman diagnosed with bipolar, I struggle to balance living out my dream and making it a reality with limitations that I am frozen when I am down and feel so depressed and helpless. I have learned to self talk saying to myself this too shall pass. Luke had lived a great and fulfilling life because you gave him everything: love shelter education. God bless you.

Wienecke Family: Luke is such a light and a joy to teach. I fondly remember the many discussions and questions he had in middle school science. :) It was extra special to also teach Jeffrey and witness the strong bond the two of them have. I sincerely wish I could have made his funeral, but please know I have been fervently praying for all of you. May our Mother Mary wrap you in her mantle and bring you peace.

I was fortunate to have Luke as a student in my Interpersonal Communication class this past Fall, and remember him as a thoughtful, engaged and collegial standout among the class. Our class presentations gave him the opportunity to speak of his love for his family and friends and passion for golf. He will be greatly missed in the GW community and my thoughts are with his family and friends who are facing this difficult moment.

Luke was a stellar student in my American Presidency course at George Washington University. He had just finished the course with flying colors a few days ago. He also was a very respectful, gracious, interesting, and insightful person. As his professor at GWU, I am stunned and heartbroken that he has died so young and so suddenly. I am praying for his mom and dad, his family, and his friends. It reminds me of the old refrain: "only the good die young."

I was in a Business Communications course with Luke last spring and sat at the same table that he did. Every class, he would bring his joyous personality and make everyone smile. I was in a few group projects with him and our group would end up laughing and enjoying our time, mainly because of Luke. It is a rare occasion to have met someone with such a bright personality and so much talent. I was awed by his ability to public speak and get A´s on all of the exams - as was everyone else. I will always be thankful for the time we spent chatting on our walk back to campus after class. My deepest condolences to Luke´s family, he will always be remembered.

I didn't know Luke too well, but I saw him occasionally through the school newspaper and around campus. When I did see him, he was always genuine and warm to others around him, including myself. I offer my deepest condolences to his family.
