Lupe deFord Wood, 64, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Elizabeth S. deFord who survives.
Lupe was employed with LabCorp for 39 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon where she served in the Breakfast Ministry and multiple other ministries to service Alamance County in any way she could. Lupe also was a member of the Mountain View Ruritan Club. She enjoyed traveling, cross stitching, and working out at the YMCA. Lupe adored her grandchildren and was excited to have a new great grandson.
She is survived her daughters, Patricia Wood of Burlington and Rebecca Wood of Mebane; her sisters, Marianne Hillman and husband, Marty of Texas and Beth Burge of Burlington; brother, John deFord and wife, Beth of Elon; grandchildren, Trey, Jayden, Zaylee, Chayse, Christian, Tyler and her great grandson, Sebastian; nieces, Alison and Shauna; nephews, Justin, Scott and Preston; and her extended LabCorp family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul deFord.
The family would like to thank the Physicians, Nurses and staff of the Oncology Department of Duke Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care and the staff and nurses at the AuthoraCare Hospice Home of Burlington.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church of Elon by Rev. Jesse Baker and Rev. Gary Williams. The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
