Lurlene was born on August 7, 1940 in Forsyth Ga to the parentage of the Late Bob Buckner and Velma Stewart. She attended the public school system of Monroe County where she received her education. She worked for many years as a Housekeeper doing what she loved most, cleaning, until her health failed. Even then, she continued her housekeeping duties at her own home where she would often greet visitors at the door with her broom in hand. Lurlene always kept a warm smile on her face and loved her family and whoever she came in contact with.

Lurlene wasn't one to give up easily so, like the true fighter she was, she fought a long fight with her health. On Tuesday February 3, 2026, Lurlene gained her wings and went home to be with her heavenly Father.

She is preceded in death by: her loving husband Roger Travis, son Sammy Ellis, daughter Charlene Newton, grandchildren, Jordan Jones & Skylar Goodrum, brothers James Buckner & Charlie Buckner, sisters Leola Buckner & Annie TannerShe leaves behind to cherish her memories; her daughters Jessie Barkley (Ray) & Laura Ellis both of Forsyth GA, Shirley Johnson (Steven) of Dublin GA; a devoted son in law Walter Newton (the late Charlene) and her step-children, Wyman Travis and Corin Ellis; one brother in law, Marvin Travis (Linda); one special niece, Susie White; grandchildren, Charnita Hughley (Terrell), Jonathan Munford (Angela), Felicia Ellis, Miktavious Ellis, Terrell Ellis (Narcissia), Nakeisha Winn, Kimberly Ellis, Shaundrella Barkley, Tiffany Barkley, Stephon Johnson, Ciera Jones, Jaquoria Rutland (Montavious); 28 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
