I met Luke some years ago having breakfast with a great friend of mine. I started meeting them each morning thereafter. It was quite obvious that Luke was a very spiritual man that loved God. He was the very example of humility We connected right away utilizing todays vernacular. Luke's wife was the love of his life He loved his children, especially his grand children. We had a lot in common with each other, sharing our many interest. Luke was a very humble man that could say that I loved you in a manly way. He enjoyed sharing the things that he made with his hands. I have always had what is know a green thumb today. I learned that Luke's thumb was a bit greener than mine. He would from time to time give me a plant that he nursed back to health. Luke was a man that was a bit different than a lot of men today. I will always remember the kindness of this man. He did a lot for different people but it was not to be talked about. Luke was the worlds greatest tinker. He loved his little shop in his back yard where he spent lots of time fixing things only to be given away later. I still have some items Luke made for me that I will never get ride of. I loved Luke and I will always miss him. He today is surrounded by the greatness of the Lord receiving his spiritual gifts that he earned serving the Lord with all of his heart. Henry Pierce

My first experience meeting Luke was at an area grill here in Rocky Mount many years ago. He and I both retired, hit it off immediately. we enjoyed talking about the Bible and the Lord. we both had a love for flowers and our yards. We both worked in the steel and welding field at that time. years later he would come by my yard to pic Blueberries , pull pears, or exchange flowers. we enjoyed our coffee time each morning so much, he was a serious man when it came to his relationship with God as was I. Everyone who knew Luke had to love him love him. He will truly be missed by many. John Marshall
