REGISTER: Lutrell Colson McCorkle, 92, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the Westwood Nursing Center in Statesboro, Georgia. Born on January 10, 1934, in Claxton, Georgia, she lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service to those around her. Lutrell was a proud homemaker, dedicating herself to her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church, Lutrell's faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and nurturing her relationships with others.
As we celebrate the life of Ms. Lutrell, we remember a kind and gentle spirit who devoted herself to her family, lived her faith with grace, and embodied the true meaning of love and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ollie Bradley Colson; her beloved husband, Lemuel McCorkle; her dear daughter, Linda Ann McCorkle; brothers, Edward Colson, Floyd Colson, and Leroy Colson, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Judy) McCorkle, and Dale (Helen) McCorkle; grandchildren, Jennifer (Garrett) Sowell, Matthew McCorkle, Brittany (Johnny) McKenna, and Andy Jones; great-grandchildren, Michaela Sowell, Matthew Sowell, Johnny McKenna, Jada McKenna and Penelope Jones; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
VISITATION: Sunday, March 8, 2026, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Sunday, March 8, 2026, 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating.
BURIAL: Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
