Luvenia Mae Ward

Services for Luvenia “Mae” Ward will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 11:30 a.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North with Dr. Corey Fontan and Rev. Phil Wiggingham officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Stringer, MS.

Ms. Ward, 96, of Meridian, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at North Pointe Health and Rehabilitation.

Mae served as a waitress in the Meridian area for more than 40 years. She enjoyed cooking and playing dominos and bingo in her later years. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and adored her church family. She will be remembered most for being a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Glenda Watkins (Jimmie), Debbie Bowns, Cheryl Fontan, and William Nelson (Suzy); 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Jerald “Red” Smith (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her infant twin girls; parents, Bunard and Iba Mae Clark Smith; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; and son-in-law.

Mae’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff at North Pointe for their compassionate and loving care during her final years.

In lieu of flowers or floral arrangements the family would prefer plants, as to honor Ms. Mae’s memory for years to come.

Visitation will be held an hour prior to service at the funeral home.
