Luz Ruiz Obituary
Luz Eva Ruiz, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. She was born October 2, 1983, in Harlingen, Texas, to Antonio and Maria Yolanda (Espinoza) Ruiz.
Lucy was known for her incredibly loving, selfless, and generous heart. She was kind to everyone and exceptionally level-headed—it was difficult to ever make her upset. Lucy always wanted to do right by others and tried to mend things in difficult situations. She was hardworking and passionate about taking care of others. This was evident in her work with Residential Opportunities, Inc., as well as in her personal life. She was always willing to help anyone in need. Lucy’s family was very dear to her. She loved kids and had a special connection with her nephews who admired her—she was one of their biggest supporters. Lucy loved to go on new adventures and try new things with her fiancé, Felix, and always wanted to take her big vacations in Texas to visit home and spend time with family there.
Lucy is survived by her fiancé, Felix Doniaz, and his girls, Marisol and Elisa Lee; mother, Maria Yolanda Ruiz; brother, Jose Omar Espinoza; sisters, Maria Yolanda (Jaime) Cortinas and Amy (Arron) Balizet; seven nephews: Jose, Jaime, Jordan, Jaycee, Michael, Ayden, and Axten; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 from 1-3:00pm and 5-8:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A service and prayers will take place at 3:00pm. Lucy will be laid to rest at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to Residential Opportunities, Inc., 1100 S Rose St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.
