Luz M Velez-Maceira

Luz M. Velez Maceira, of Keyport, born in San German, Puerto Rico, on September 14, 1938, passed away on November 20, 2025. She was married to Efrain Maceira, now deceased. She leaves behind 7 daughters, Elma, Myrna, Migdalia ( Junior), Evelyn, Becky, Arlene ( Rick) and Nancy ( Victor). She has 14 grandchildren-one already waiting for her in heaven-and 12 great grandchildren all who lovingly call her "Wella" She was the matriarch of our family, the bond that held us together. She shared laughter and wonderful stories with all of us, especially with her grandchildren.

Born in Puerto Rico, she spent her early years in Chicago before moving to New York to start her life and raise her daughters. She moved back to Puerto Rico in 1987 and returned to New York just a few years ago and then to Keyport, New Jersey just over a year ago.

Our Mom loved to spoil us with delicious meals. She loved to crochet and always made beautiful baby clothing and blankets every time she welcomed a new grandchild or great grandchild into the world.

She left this world peacefully, having spoken with or been visited by many of the people she loved. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. We were all honored to have her in our lives. Saying goodbye is too hard so instead, we'll say "till we meet again".

Family and friends are asked to call on Friday from 1-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals & CRemation Services 111 Main Street Matawan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at St. Clement's R.C. Church at 9:30 a.m.. Interment Will follow in Marlboro Memorial Cemetery.
