Lydia Law Obituary

Lydia Hall Law
12/06/1948 - 09/06/2024
Lydia Hall Law went to heaven on September 6, 2024. She was born on December 6, 1948 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lydia was always a minister to those around her, and as a grandmother, a mother, a wife, she had a true servant's heart.
Lydia graduated with a degree in Religion from Wake Forest University, then worked in administration at Cameron Brown in Raleigh, then after moving to Houston, at Bank of the Southwest and Baylor College of Medicine. During her entire married life, she was a member of South Main Baptist Church, serving in many leadership roles primarily in the areas of missions and ministries. She sang in South Main's Sanctuary Choir for well over four decades and was ordained as a deacon soon after South Main began ordaining women as deacons.
Lydia was predeceased by her mother Alma Woodley Hall and her father Joseph Thomas Hall. She is survived by her husband, Samuel William Law II, MD, her son Samuel Todd Law and his wife Charla Smith Law, and their sons Luke Samuel Law and Lane Charles Law, all of whom reside in College Station, Texas, as well as Lydia's sister Alma Jo Langston of Charlotte, North Carolina. Additional survivors include brother-in-law Richard Law and sister-in-law Sherry Law and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lydia's family would like to recognize and thank the staff at the Liver Transplant service at Houston Methodist Hospital. In addition, the last week of her life was made more comfortable and peaceful by the staff at Houston Hospice. Most of all, Lydia's family wishes to thank the members and staff at South Main Baptist Church who have cared for Lydia and her family for more than 50 years.
A memorial service to celebrate Lydia's life will be held in the South Main Baptist Church sanctuary on Friday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m. Instead of floral tributes, Lydia's family suggests donations to either South Main Baptist Church Foundation, 4100 Main St, Houston, Texas 77002, [email protected], or Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030, www.houstonhospice.org.

Sam and Todd, I was so sorry to read in the Sunday paper about Lydia. It brought back a flood of memories of her and Carla and all the things we all did together. Didn´t we have some wonderful times together!

Watching Evans and Todd grow up together and all the Little League games which Carla and Lydia never missed.
And Sam I remember eating that delicious elk you shot in Colorado!

Carla and I loved Lydia so much and now the two of them are together again!
Blessings to you both! Harvey

Lydia was a good friend to me and I will miss her wonderful smile. She was a great help to me at a time when I needed a friendly, listening ear. I'll always remember her for her compassion and understanding as well as her fun laughter. God be near to everyone she loved and cared for in this life. I look forward to seeing her in heaven!

My neighbor Lydia was truly one of the most beautiful ladies. Her wonderful smile and always cheery attitude was such a blessing. She was always willing to help. There is truly another beautiful angel singing in the heavenly choir. I will miss you dear friend.
