Lyla Moteberg, age 87, of Erskine, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9th, at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN, with her daughters at her side. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16th, at Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine with the Rev. Pam Thorson officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Erskine. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Erskine and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.

Lyla was born at home on September 17, 1938, in Winger Township, near Winger, MN, to parents Thorleif and Emma (Salveson) Bottolfs. She attended country school and high school in Erskine, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She married Allen Curtis Moteberg on September 24, 1955, at the parsonage of Grace Lutheran Church by Rev. P.E. Onstad.

They resided in Erskine, Fertile, Thief River Falls, Baudette, and Warroad, Minnesota. The couple welcomed four children into their home: LaVonne, LaDawna, LaVerne (Butch), and LaRoy (Punky). Lyla moved back to Erskine in September 2013.

Church was an important part of her life. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, she was a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. When she moved back to Erskine, she became a member again of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in their Ladies Aid, Mission Circle, and Quilting group.

She was a homemaker while the children were young. When she started working outside the home, she held several clerking and bookkeeping positions. She retired in 2005 from the Seven Clans Casino in Warroad.

She was an active and dedicated member of the Warroad Eagles 4195. She was on their board of directors, enjoyed helping with benefit dinners, and was a member of the Warroad Red Hatatudes (Red Hatters). She enjoyed fishing, whether it was by boat or ice fishing in the winter. She liked working with crafts. Pa & Ma Crafters was their side business. Allen did woodworking, and Lyla did small crafts. They enjoyed traveling to craft shows, not only to sell their wares, but to meet other crafters and customers. She enjoyed playing BINGO, dominoes, and cards (Rook, Whist, and her new favorite, 5 Crown). She also enjoyed a good cup of coffee and conversation with family and friends.

Survivors include daughter, LaVonne McWilliam, and her children, Marissa (Karl) Donner their daughter, Emmie; MarJenna (Brady) Koehler, daughter, LaDawna Anderson, and her children, Lisa (Mike) Rose, their children Nicholas, Carmen, Luke & Mary; Emily (Emma) Salsbury, son, Butch (Bonnie) Moteberg, and their children, Michelle (William) Gruenes and their children, Alyssa, Hannah, and Daniel; Nichole (Peter) Koprince and their children, Owen, Ashlynn, Baylor and Aeson; Nathan Moteberg, her son, Punky (Ellen) Moteberg, their children Aaron (Courtney) Moteberg and their daughter Hazel; Katie Moteberg; Kyle (Melanie) Moteberg and their children, Theodore (TK) and Mabel.
