Lyle Leroy Beam, 89, of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS, with family by his side. He was born December 17, 1936 in Netawaka, KS, the son of Harold Warner and Elnora Marie (Beaman) Beam.
Lyle attended Maple Grove Grade School and graduated from Holton High School in 1955. He lived most of his life in Holton and Netawaka communities. For 2 years he lived in Emporia (while Betty was in college) and a few years in Topeka.
From 1955 – 1961 he farmed the family farm along side his dad. He worked for 5 years at the Kansas State Highway Commission as a heavy equipment operator and Goodyear in the accounts receivable (Hawaii District) and then returned back to farming. He was also a bookkeeper for Henry Brothers Implement and later a cashier at Prairie Band Casino all while still farming.
He attended Trinity Lutheran Church and he was a member of the Kansas National Guard Company C in Holton for 10 years.
Lyle married Betty Elaine Bohnenkemper on August 20, 1961 in Holton, from this marriage are 2 children, Jon and Jolene. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2006, after over 45 years of marriage.
He married Darlene J. Tuck on July 7, 2007 in Holton; they celebrated over 18 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene of the home; children, Jon W. Beam (Michelle) of Vancouver, WA and Jolene F. Schlossman (Martin) of Topeka, KS; 4 grandchildren, Olivia Beam, Marshall Beam, Hope Werner (Braden) and Matthew Schlossman (Randi) and 3 great-grandchildren, Joy, Brooks and Theodore.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Martin Schlossman III.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family request casual attire. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Jackson County 4-H c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
