Lyle Reller

Lyle LeRoy Reller, 93, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at Taylorville Memorial Hospital on Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born on October 4, 1932, in Taylorville, to Henry Edward Reller and Viola Wilson. In 1954, he married Laura Batchelor and they had two children together. They later divorced.

Lyle proudly and selflessly served his country in the U.S. Army. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. After his service, he began his career with Caterpillar and worked an additional 32 years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and he loved woodworking in his spare time. Lyle found much joy in helping others. He often volunteered for Meals on Wheels and dedicated his time to volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his son: Steven (Joy) Reller of Taylorville, IL; daughter: Rhonda (Rusty) McLain of Rockton, IL; grandchildren: Tonya Mahan; Christie Reller; Craig Reller; and his great-grandson: Hayden Mahan.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Viola Reller.

Per the family's wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials in his honor may be made to either Christian County Animal Control or to Taylorville Food Pantry.
