Lynette Layman was born December 21, 1947 in Alma, Michigan. She was the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Smith) Layman. Lynette grew up and attended school in Alma and at a young age she fell in love with the west. When she was in her early 20’s, she moved to Ronan Montana where she worked as a Nurse’s Assistant for several years. In 1984 she was united in marriage to Thomas Wing in Helena Montana. Following their marriage, they ranched near Helena and in 1999, after selling the ranch, they purchased a ranch near Wall, South Dakota. In 2009 they retired from ranching and moved to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since.
In October of 2023, Lynette was diagnosed with A.L.S., Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Throughout the rest of her life, Lynette’s strong faith in God gave her strength and courage. God carried her through it all, and now she is at peace in her heavenly home. Lynette will be remembered for her love of outdoors, and having an adventurous spirit. She loved the ranching life, was good at riding horses, and she also enjoyed camping. Most of all, she loved her family. She will be missed greatly by all of them. Lynette is survived by 5 children of a blended family and it was a blessing to her to be part of it.
Lynette went home to heaven on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at her home, with her loving husband by her side. Grateful for the gift she was from God include her husband, Thomas of Belle Fourche; children, Justin Fritz of Belle Fourche, Josh (Kim) Fritz of Spearfish, Paula (Frank Erck) Wing of Rapid City, Scottie (John) VanDiest of Helena MT, Randy (Jo) Wing of Great Falls MT; and 8 grandchildren.
