Lynn Everette Asbahr

CORVALLIS - Lynn Everett Asbahr was born on March 14, 1925 and he died peacefully at his home on March 12, 2024, just two days shy of his 99th birthday. He is survived by his son Michael. Vera Reger, his wife of 68 years and his son Roger preceded him in death.

Lynn was part of a large family of 10 and his father Harry farmed 100s of acres in the Willamette Valley so Lynn grew up learning all the farming and mechanical work he could. He was a self-made man who started supporting himself at the age of 15.

He started Asbahr's Mobil Service that was located right on the Willamette River at Second Street in Corvallis. He also worked for Dorsey Bus Company as their lead mechanic, and also at Barrett Brothers.

He was a master at repurposing materials into something useful. He built the family's beautiful home room by room and after his retirement he bricked the entire house with used bricks.

Many remember their house on Peoria Road where for 20 years Lynn and Vera produced a Christmas lights extravaganza that 100s in the area enjoyed every year.

For years Lynn and Vera would also drive to Champagne, Illinois to pick new school buses and bring them back to Oregon. They enjoyed these trips and often stopped to collect rocks and Ssee the sights on their way.

Lynn was well known and respected in the community and will be missed by many who loved him. His Celebration of Life will be held at Fisher Funeral Home in Albany at 1:00 on April 6, 2024.
