CHARLOTTE – Lynn Asinger died peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Born Emily Lynn Wooten on January 6, 1938, in Munford, Tennessee. Lynn grew up surrounded by family and took great pride in telling stories of their legacy and love. After graduating high school in Munford, Lynn went on to attend Lindenwood University, where she met the love of her life, Jack Asinger. They were married in Munford on June 9, 1957.
Lynn and Jack were blessed living and making friends across the country before eventually settling with their sons in Wilton, Connecticut. Lynn worked in the Westport Library, volunteered at her son's schools and was active in the Wilton Presbyterian Church.
Lynn enjoyed gardening, painting and the arts. She had exquisite taste and her home reflected her appreciation of beauty. Her paintings graced their homes and the homes of her children and family members. In later years Lynn and Jack split their time between Vonore, TN and Bonita Springs, FL where they made new friends and were active in church and community before eventually moving to Aldersgate in
Charlotte, NC.
Always a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt and grandparent, Lynn was also a wonderful friend who will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, sense of humor, a wink and a smile that would warm any heart.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack Asinger, her sons John Asinger and his wife Jean of
Charlotte, NC and their children Emily and Sarah, Rev. Rob Asinger and his wife Barbara of Miami, FL and their children Kate and Colleen and their spouses Tim and Ryan and their children. Along with her sister Milly Fuselier and husband Henry, sister-in-law Bobbie Wooten, brother and sister-in-law Dr. Richard and Sue Asinger, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother Mac Wooten and parents Robert and Mary Wooten.
A memorial service for Lynn will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the chapel of Aldersgate Senior Living in
Charlotte, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the
American Diabetes Association and the Lynn Asinger Fund for Memory Care at Church by the Sea, Bay Harbor Islands, Florida.
