Lynn Evelyn Bell: A Life Served with Love

Lynn, age 68, of Frazee, MN, passed away on January 3. leaving behind a legacy as warm and steady as her favorite flannel jacket. To know Lynn was to know a woman who lived life to the fullest, laughed until she snorted, and lived by the motto: "Get ‘er done!"

They say some people cook to eat, but Lynn didn't just serve food; her food was a hug in physical form. She "served love on a plate". While her biscuits and gravy and Mac n’ Cheese were favorites, it was her legendary granola bars that made her a local icon. Her grandkids will forever cherish the afternoons spent baking in the kitchen, a tradition that was about so much more than just the food…it was about the time spent together. Lynn was the architect of every family and friend get-together, ensuring that no one ever felt left out or unloved.

Lynn was a woman of action and spirit and her heart had no boundaries. She was deeply passionate about caring for those in need, particularly children, and she served her community with devotion as a foster parent. She provided a safe harbor and a mother’s love to many who needed it most. On the bowling lanes, she was a pillar of the community, coaching the junior league and mentoring young bowlers with the same grit and heart she brought to everything else. At home, she was the discipline and the guiding force; you always knew where you stood with her, and you always knew you were loved. She was the friend everyone called to stay up to date with and the beloved "Auntie Pauntie" to her nieces and nephews.

Lynn’s "happy place" was anywhere near the water, whether it was “the lake” or a sandy beach by the ocean. She loved traveling with the love of her life, Carmen, playing bingo with friends, and fishing. Her life had a classic soundtrack—the twang of Johnny Cash, Charley Pride, and Vince Gill. If the sun was out, she wanted to be outside; if a friend called for support, she was already there with open arms.

Above all else, Lynn’s grandkids were her absolute world. Her legacy. She would drop anything at a moment’s notice to see them, often teaching them the secrets of her kitchen or sharing a giggle over silly sayings. She taught us to cherish the people we love and to find joy in the simple things.

Those left to cherish her memory, Lynn is survived by Carmen Bell (husband), Tracy and Aaron Nelson (daughter) Nancy Bell and Tim Moes (daughter), Susan and David Verette (step-daughter), Sally and Paul Cronin (step-daughter), Penny Bell (step-daughter); Dennis Weidemann (brother), Diane and Joe Sazama (sister); and 15 beloved grandchildren; 4 great grand children and the many children to whom she opened her heart and home as a foster mother. Those who went before her, Lynn was reunited in heaven with her parents, Gottlieb and Doloris Weidemann, and sister Marion Aschnewitz.

Formal services for Lynn will be held at St. Paul's Evergreen Church of Frazee on Saturday, January 10th,2026 beginning with a time of visitation at 1pm, and formal services conducted at 2pm.  Burial will immediately follow at St Paul's Evergreen Cemetery.
