Lynn Ellen Cummings, 46, of
Argyle, Iowa, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 2, 1979, in Keokuk, Lynn was the daughter of Wayne Saunders and Linda Bruce.
She graduated with the Keokuk High School class of 1998.
On July 17, 1999, she was united in marriage with Robert Cummings. They later divorced in 2019.
Lynn never lived a quiet life – she was a bright, bold presence everywhere she went. She worked in several local bars over the years, where her outgoing personality and ability to make anyone feel like a friend made her unforgettable. Her signature green hair was more than a color; it was a reflection of who she was – vibrant, fearless, and completely one-of-a-kind.
Loved by many, Lynn had a gift for making people laugh, and she never hesitated to give a hug. She believed a good hug could fix almost anything, and those around her knew just how true that was.
She later worked as a paraprofessional for the school district, where she found joy in supporting students. The kids adored her, often saying her heart was "made of rainbows and butterflies." Most recently, before her ALS diagnosis, Lynn worked in the drive-thru at McDonald's, greeting customers with the same contagious smile and bold style that could brighten even the cloudiest day.
Lynn is survived by her mother, Linda Bruce of Keokuk; her daughters, Genesis Cummings and Saphire Cummings; and her son, Coy Cummings. She is also survived by her sisters, Christina Davison, Candy Hobb (Elmer), Beverly Saunders, Eleana Saunders, and Cassie Saunders; her companion, Jesse Skiles; as well as a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Saunders Sr.; two brothers, Wayne Saunders Jr. and Eric Saunders; and her great-aunt, Zelda Hartman.
Lynn approached life with humor, honesty, and a whole lot of heart, and she made her wishes for the end of her life abundantly clear. At her request, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, she wanted a true celebration of life. In her own words:
"I don't want to be mourned. I want people to celebrate that I lived and loved! Be happy and share stories about the good times. So have a sprinkle of cheese, a taco, a shot of Crown for me and dispense the laughter medicine!"
