Born in Grundy, Virginia, to Caroline Clark Stuart and Russell Thorson Stuart, she married Stanley Wilson Merrell II in 1956. Together they raised four children and shared 49 years of marriage until his death in 2006. Stan was a senior executive at Bausch & Lomb, and Lynn was a member of the Chatterbox Club and the Garden Club of America. They were active volunteers with many organizations in Rochester and were members of the Country Club of Rochester and the Genesee Valley Club.
A lover of music, gardening, and entertaining, Lynn was known for her gracious hospitality, lively spirit, and lifelong friendships.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Wilson Merrell II, and her brother, Donald Kirkley Stuart. She is survived by her children: Stanley Wilson Merrell III (Lynne), Caroline Merrell Tucker (Jeff), Louise Merrell Middleton (Tom), and Katherine Merrell Denny (Jim); 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held March 21 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach.
