The Life and Legacy of
Lynn Lorenzo Pollard
Lynn Lorenzo Pollard was born on February 27, 1963, in Dallas, to Louis James Pollard and Dorothy Joe Pollard, both of whom preceded him in death.
Lynn declared his faith at an early age and carried that foundation with him throughout his life.
He received his early education at T. D. Marshall Elementary, Clara Oliver Elementary, and Boude Storey Middle School, later graduating from Skyline High School in 1981. Determined to continue his education, Lynn attended Mountain View College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology.
Following graduation, Lynn began working for Braniff International Airways before beginning a long and dedicated career with United States Postal Service in 1984. He faithfully served there until his retirement in 2012, and during his years at the Post Office, he also served as a union representative, advocating for others with fairness and integrity.
After retirement, Lynn stepped fully into a calling that had already become a major part of his life-officiating sports. What began with his own athletic ability grew into decades of extraordinary service to youth and competitive athletics across the State of Texas.
His sports career began as a semi-professional basketball player in the National Pro-Am Basketball League, where his passion for the game and strong knowledge of competition laid the groundwork for a distinguished officiating career. During those years, Lynn competed alongside and officiated games involving notable players such as Chucky Brown, Chris Morris, and Dell Demps, along with many other former and future professional athletes.
Lynn later became an officiating coordinator for the well-known Po Bills Basketball Tournaments, where he organized and supervised officials for tournaments held throughout Texas. His leadership helped maintain excellence and consistency in one of the state's most respected grassroots basketball circuits.
His impact extended far beyond basketball. For more than 30 years, Lynn officiated Pee Wee and youth football games throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, serving organizations such as the North Dallas Select Football League and the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Youth Football League. He also served as a coordinator for Dallas recreation football leagues, mentoring younger officials and helping uphold standards of fairness and professionalism.
Lynn's basketball officiating career continued on the national level through the Hoop It Up 3-on-3 Basketball Tour, where he traveled across the country representing Texas officiating programs. He was a member of the Dallas Basketball Officials Association for 15 years before continuing his service with the Kaufman County Basketball Officials Chapter for 24 years. During his tenure there, he served five years as Vice President and six years as Chapter President, guiding the chapter and mentoring developing officials.
His leadership also reached the state level through four years of service on the Texas High School Basketball Officials Association Board of Directors, where he contributed to the advancement of high school basketball officiating throughout Texas.
Throughout his remarkable officiating career, Lynn worked numerous prestigious competitions, including High School Regional Basketball Tournaments, National Little Dribblers State and Regional Championships, Dallas NBA Pro-Am games, and contests in the Texas Pro Basketball League.
Through decades of service, leadership, and dedication to fair play, Lynn left a lasting impact on youth and competitive sports across Texas. His commitment to excellence influenced generations of athletes, coaches, and officials throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth region and beyond.
On January 5, 2026, Lynn married Latosha Frazier. Through marriage, he was blessed with three children: Evanda Johnson, Patrick Barker, and Tramond Norman, and two grandchildren, Patrick Jr. and Javon Jr.
Among the many roles Lynn held, being a godfather was one he treasured deeply. He loved each of his godchildren wholeheartedly-showing up, encouraging them, and pouring love into their lives in ways they will never forget.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Dorothy Pollard, and his brother, Louis Pollard III.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his brother Reginald Pollard; sister Dorothea Higgins (Ivan); nieces Cassandra McFail, Careen Garrett (Antonio), Camille Wilson (Rodrick), Tiedrica Allen, Tieresa Pollard, Tiedrian Pollard, Tielyah Pollard, Zara Pollard, and Zion Pollard; nephews Calvin Banks (Gloria), Christopher Watson (Toviyah), and Louis Pollard IV; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
