Charlotte, North Carolina - CHARLOTTE - Lynn P. Salton, 78, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away November 23, 2025, following a protracted illness with her husband at her side. While her body was increasingly debilitated, her mind remained sharp and no doubt she welcomes her heavenly journey.

Born August 26, 1947, in Williamson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Bonnie G. Preece and Alec A. Preece. After high school she attended Marshall University where she graduated cum laude with a BA degree in elementary education. Following college, she married her high school sweetheart, Russell A. Salton, III.

For the first four years of their 56-year marriage, the couple resided in Morgantown, WV. While her husband attended medical school, Lynn taught first grade and kindergarten at Flats School adjacent to the WVU Medical Center, so many of her students were the children of medical students or faculty. She was beloved.

After her husband's medical school graduation, the couple moved to Charlotte NC for Dr. Salton's family practice residency at Charlotte Memorial Hospital. During this period, she gave birth to her daughter, Sarah E. Salton, in 1973 and her son, Russell A. Salton, IV, in 1976. To say she was an energetic stay at home mother is an understatement. She kept her children active in school, church and whatever sport was in season. PTA, Booster's Club and Myers Park Presbyterian Church (MPPC) Youth fellowship were just a few of her many voluntary endeavors on behalf of her children. She had boundless energy, so when MPPC built a gym, Lynn began teaching exercise. Often as many as fifty women at a time would show up for the multiple classes she taught each week. They affectionately called themselves "The Church Ladies".

Given Lynn's boundless energy and extravertive nature, in 1995 when her youngest went off to college, she knew she needed a new career. Because of her admiration for Charlotte's older established neighborhoods, becoming a realtor was a natural extension of her love for family and home. For her real estate was a calling. During her three-decade career she was the number one producer in her firm for more than 20 consecutive years. Her greatest joy was working side-by-side with her daughter, Sarah. Their clients became friends and extended family.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband Russell A. Salton, III, MD, her daughter Sarah E. Salton, her son Russell A. Salton, IV, his wife Courtney M. Salton and her beloved granddaughters Sophia E. Salton and Bridget O. Salton.

A service of celebration will be held at Myers Park Presbyterian Church at 11 AM on Saturday December 6, 2025. The family will receive friends following the service. The service will be livestreamed through the church website at https://myersparkpres.org/live/ for those unable to attend in person.
