Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurley Funeral Home - Pleasanton on Sep. 25, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lynne Patricia Brown, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on September 22, 2025, at the age of 72, in Whitsett, Texas. Lynne was born on February 9, 1953, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and her journey through life was characterized by kindness, curiosity, and a profound appreciation for the beauty of the world around her.
Raised in Southern Rhodesia, Lynne spent her formative years exploring various regions of southern Africa until her family relocated to Houston, Texas, when she was seventeen. Her early life, shaped by her experiences in a Catholic boarding school, instilled in her a lasting sense of integrity and respect for others. She maintained an unwavering belief in the goodness of people throughout her life.
Lynne dedicated many years of her career as an Administrative Assistant within the engineering industry, serving with distinction at WorleyParsons in Houston. Her contributions to the organization were marked by her strong work ethic and her commitment to excellence.
A passionate traveler, Lynne took great joy in exploring the United States and Canada with her husband in their motorhome, reveling in the diverse landscapes and experiences that each journey brought. One of her cherished adventures included two wonderful years spent living in Brisbane, Australia, while her husband was working on a project for WorleyParsons. When not traveling, Lynne found solace in the tranquility of her ranch, where she would often sit on the patio, watching the wildlife with great delight, especially the Vermillion flycatchers that frequented her yard. She had a deep love for animals, particularly her beloved cats, who have all preceded her in death.
Lynne is survived by her devoted husband, Stanley Brown Jr.; her loving son, Adam Swindall; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Cath Short; her nephew, Harry Short; her niece, Bryony Short; her step-brothers, Graham and Simon Short; and her sister-in-law, Lynda Short. Her legacy of warmth, generosity, and genuine affection for others will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life for Lynne will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Ray's Mexican Restaurant 870 S. Mason Road, Katy, TX 77450
