MEREDITH - Lynne Elizabeth (Jones) Schubert, 85, of Meredith, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
Born in Peterborough, NH, on July 19, 1940, to the late Arthur Jones and Nellie Byam (Stacie), Lynne grew up in New Ipswich, NH. She was a proud graduate of Brandeis University, where she stood out as a talented basketball player.
Lynne’s passions reflected her zest for life. From the swift movements of basketball to the graceful steps of dancing, and the soothing embrace of swimming, she found joy in every activity. Her heart was happiest at Lake Winnipesaukee, especially on the sandy beach, where she could relax, soak up the sun, and be surrounded by family and the beauty of nature. A American Red Cross–certified swim instructor, she loved teaching young children how to swim and gain confidence in the water. She adored dogs and had a deep love for the simple joys of life. Above all, Lynne cherished her family. She never missed an opportunity to be involved in her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s activities—always cheering them on, rain or shine.
In her younger years, Lynne enjoyed square dancing with the Waltham Twirlers, where she became known for her energy and enthusiasm on the dance floor. Later, she became an avid participant in pro/amateur ballroom dancing, which brought her tremendous happiness. Remarkably, at age 85, she competed in what would be her final dance competition this past summer—an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Lynne is survived by her beloved children, Wayne Schubert of Arlington, MA, and his former wife, Ellen Schubert; Craig Schubert of Waltham, MA, and his wife, Cheryl Schubert; and Kristin Peterson of Littleton, MA, and her husband, Donald Peterson. She also leaves behind her sister, Gail Gustafson of New Ipswich, NH; and her former husband, Robert Schubert of Peabody, MA.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Victoria, Bethany, Kristina, Amanda, Alyssa, David, James, and Derek — each of whom brought her tremendous pride and joy. Lynne also adored her great-grandchildren, Jomiloju, Zion, Aubree, Avery, and Skylar, whose laughter and energy filled her heart with happiness.
A Celebration of Lynn’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025. at the New Ipswich Congregational Church, 156 Main Street, New Ipswich, NH. All are welcome to share a fond memory of Lynne during the service. Interment will follow immediately at Center Cemetery, directly across from the church.
