Lynnette Kislin Obituary

Lynnette Kislin, 71, a beloved mother, devoted educator and active community member, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, surrounded by family.

Lynnette dedicated much of her professional life to serving others. She worked as a medical billing specialist, bringing care and diligence to her role in the health care field. She also spent many years as a Hebrew school teacher, instilling values and traditions in generations of students. Her passion for the arts extended into her involvement in local theater, where she found joy and creative expression.

Born to the late Dr. Aaron and Charlotte Lisses, Lynnette grew up in the Wyoming Valley and graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Rider College, laying the foundation for her lifelong commitment to education and service.

Lynnette was a proud member of Temple Israel, where she was actively involved in synagogue life and community activities. Her kindness, generosity and spirited presence made a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joel Kislin; and her parents.

She is survived by her loving children: Aimee Kislin, of Kenilworth, N.J.; Rachel Kislin, of Kingston; sister, Myrna (Robert) Bookbinder, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and brother, Lewis (Kim) Lisses, of Shavertown. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews: Adam, Matthew, Erica, Pat, Aaron, Kerri, Ryan, Jonathan and Karen; and brothers-in-law: Louis (Estelle) Kislin and Mark Kislin, and Kurt Watson; all of whom she held dear.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from Rosenberg Funeral Chapel Inc., 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville.

Shiva will be observed from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 p.m. Friday and Sunday at the home of Dr. Lewis and Kim Lisses, 52 Country Road, Shavertown.

Lynnette's legacy is one of compassion, resilience and dedication. She will be remembered for her warmth, her love of learning and the deep connections she built with family, friends and her community.
