Lynnette Lewis Obituary

Lynnette Lewis

1951-2023

Salt Lake City, UT-Born March 6, 1951, to Millicent H. and James W. Lewis in Roosevelt, Utah, Lynnette peacefully passed at home, in Salt Lake City, on June 16, 2023, her beloved dog Cujo at her side. Whether you knew her as Nana, Aunt 'Nette, or Lynnette, she always listened and really heard you. Although born and raised in Utah (Roosevelt), Southern hospitality was her birthright. If you were a friend, you were family; she always offered a seat, a drink, and a listening ear.

Lynnette was married to Stanley J Altman, MD (deceased) and she is survived by grandsons Nick and Robbie Altman; nieces and nephews, Michelle Wood and her sons, Matthew and Mason, Stephanie Lindsay (Brynt) and their kids Hailey (JD), Brynlee and Cooper, Jim Lewis (Trish) and their daughters Kaylee and Harlee, and Cassidy Johnson; stepdaughter, Lisa Altman (Martha Amundsen); her ex-daughter-in-law, Tracy Altman; and her brothers-in-law Gary Meenderink and Frank Altman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sisters, Eva Jean, LeeAnn, Guyla, and Russell, and her stepson, Ben Altman. Lynnette was the best Nana, aunt, stepmother, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law you could ask for and she took great joy in the accomplishments of her many nieces and nephews and her grandsons.

During her 34-year career with Intermountain HealthCare, Lynnette worked in the Medical Staff Office at LDS Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center. She was admired and respected and still has many close friends within the Utah medical community.

Lynnette was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes as a teen but, thanks to a positive attitude and treatment advances during her lifetime, she lived a fulfilling life with the disease rather than having it define her. Despite her best fight, diabetes slowly took over her body and eventually won. The battle is finally over; it's time to relax on the porch with a crossword puzzle and a guilt-free vodka tonic to enjoy the sunset permanently and peacefully.

A Celebration of Lynnette's life will be held from 6-8PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at City View Mortuary, just north of the Salt Lake Cemetery. Lynnette would want us to celebrate her life rather than mourn her death. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Diabetes Association.

A special shout out to helpful and compassionate folks at Intermountain Dialysis Center and Intermountain Home Health, and her loving neighbors.

Lynette was always a kind friend. When Kamryn was little she invited her over to swim and even made her lunch. She was always interested in everyone around her.

Lynette was a amazing lady. She loved everyone. I always considered her my sister in law. Even after Russ and I devorced.
We keeped in touch off and on until about a year or so. When i didnt get my usual christmas card. I knew it wasnt good. But didnt know how to reach her.
I and Dave will miss her dearly.
So will her other nephews Wrex Lewis and Michael Lewis and Jeff Peterson.
Rest in peace Lynette.

Lynette was like a bright star.
Shinning even in daylight.
Her positive attitude and simple outlook always brightened each of our days.
Stan and Lynette were our neighbors for over 20 yrs. We shared many evenings talking over our garden wall. They we so delightful and interested in our family's lives. They would always come over to see what Santa brought and delight Taylor and Ashley with a surprise.
They shared in our joys and helped lighten our burdens.
We our saddened, but rejoice in the knowledge that we shall all have the opportunity to see both Lynett and Stan again. Our sincere love to Lisa, Cassidy and everyone else in Lynette's world.
May peace carry you all,

Tracy Altman

Lynnette made it clear she never divorced me, and was a major support in raising Nick and Robbie. We tried to care for her as much as she would allow these past few years when she needed our help. We miss her every day.
