York Harbor, Maine - M. Lorraine Frisbee, 87, of York Harbor, Maine, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2025, after a period of declining health, surrounded by her family. She passed peacefully on the 16th anniversary of her husband Dave's death, joining him in eternal rest after 53 years of marriage and their adored son, David Daniel, who left this earth too soon,
She was born in Kittery, Maine, on December 23, 1937, the daughter of Richard Elmer Pruett and Lela Elizabeth (Dame) Pruett of Kittery, Maine. Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late David Deering Frisbee, co-owner of the historic Frisbee's Supermarket in Kittery Point, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, family, and community. She was a long-time resident of Kittery, Maine, living in her cherished family home on Williams Avenue, which dates back to the late 1800s.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Paula Frisbee (Tom Gendreau), Sherri Frisbee (Rick Marr), Christina Frisbee (Beau Clark), and her "fourth" daughter, Elizabeth Stiles Frisbee, widow of David Daniel Frisbee; her granddaughter Alison Davis (Marc); her grandson Cade Frisbee Clark; and her great-granddaughters Eva and Phoebe Davis. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Pruett (Phyllis); her sister Loretta (Richard) Walker; her sister-in-law Judith Richardson; her brother-in-law Richard Benoit; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lela Pruett; her in-laws Solon and Edith Frisbee; her sister Eleanor Benoit; her brother Richard Pruett and his wife Judith Pruett; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Brenda and Dave Kinmond; her brother-in-law Frank Frisbee and his wife Evelyn Frisbee; and her brother-in-law Herman Richardson.
After raising their four children, Lorraine joined her husband at the family business, where together they served as pillars of the community in Kittery Point and surrounding communities until retirement. Lorraine and Dave offered many young teens their first jobs at Frisbee's Supermarket, including Dave's nephews, the Emery boys, who were like sons to him. At Frisbee's Market, she met countless friends and enjoyed sharing stories and her homemade baked goods passed down from her mother and grandmother recipes. She often traded her baked treats or freshly made bread for farm eggs and would lovingly reciprocate when neighbors shared their hunters' delights of venison or bear - or fresh fish and lobster from the ocean. She was also known for her smoked cheese, which she perfected over long days of patient tending until it reached just the right flavor and temperature.
In her children's younger years, Lorraine spent hours sewing clothes for school, holidays, and special occasions. She rarely missed a game, performance, or event, cheering not only for her own children but for all their friends as well. You could find Lorraine at every water ski event, cheering on her friends and family. Her most cherished role was being a mother, nurturing her family with love, support, unwavering devotion, and warm coats.
Lorraine was deeply devoted to helping others, volunteering with Operation Blessing, Meals on Wheels, and donating blood regularly. She also spent time volunteering in Florida with her grandson, helping with Blessings in a Backpack, at his elementary school, and with Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida.
Affectionately known as "Namie," a name lovingly given to her by her granddaughter and embraced by the community, Lorraine's warmth, humor, kindness and spirit touched countless lives over the years. Namie was a "grandmother" to many and was always up for any outing or excursion that came her way.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sentry Hill in York, Maine, and Hospice of Maine for the wonderful care, love, and compassion shown to Lorraine throughout her years in their care.
At this time, the family will hold a private gathering. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, offering an opportunity for everyone to share stories of both Lorraine and Dave.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert W. Traip Trust – David Frisbee Scholarship, P.O. Box 18, Kittery, Maine 03904; to Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida at lrrof.org/donate/in-memory-or-honor-donation; or to a
charity of your choice - the "Frisbee girls" will continue the volunteer efforts and support the community in honor of Lorraine and Dave Frisbee
