Chamberlain Funeral Home & Monuments, LLC - Rock PortMargaret Pauline Kurtz was born in Forest City, Missouri on October 8, 1935. Pauline was one of seven children of Charles Oliver and Mary Marie (Buckles) Plummer. Pauline graduated from Forest City High School and later attended St. Joseph Beauty University.
On April 18, 1958 she married Raymond Reed Kurtz, and they became parents of one daughter. Reed passed away in 1996.
Pauline entered the Tiffany Heights Care Center in February of 2024 after a bout with Covid. She made the decision to stay until her passing on November 19, 2025 at the age of 90.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis “Frank” and Dorothy, Gene and Maxine, Albert and Nona, Allen and Viola and Kenneth and Mary Plummer; her sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Dwain “Benny” Benedict; and grandson, Jason Acton.
Pauline is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joetta and Phillip Davis; grandson, Jeremy and Maranda Acton; granddaughter Crystal and Dwight Sims; great grandchildren, Eryn (Austin) Walker, Austin Acton, Kyndall Sims, Courtney Sims and fiancée Ryan, and Autumn Sims.
Pauline worked for years in a café before opening Polly’s Beauty Salon. (Reed always called her Polly). She operated the salon from 1967 until 1972, when health issues forced her to sell.
Pauline loved fishing with the family, especially the grandchildren. She loved kids in general and wanted a dozen, but only had one so she was a Cub Scout leader and anything else that involved children.
She loved bingo nights with Reed and Joetta when Joetta could find a babysitter that wasn’t afraid to watch the children. Not mentioning names, but a couple of boys liked to try to burn down the garage a time or two.
She was loved by many.
