M. Robert Young

     M. Robert (Bob) Young, 81, Mount Joy, died Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Charles S. and Nancy (Zimmerman) Young. He was a graduate of Donegal High School class of 1962, Elizabethtown College class of 1966, and the former Eckels College of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia in 1968. Early in his career Bob owned and operated the former Young Funeral Home, Lancaster. In the mid 1970’s Bob founded the Great Expectation Holstein Farm, Elizabethtown, and in the late 1970’s he co-founded the first Embryo Transfer Co. on his farm. In 1979 Bob founded “Bob’s Sports”, with stands at Roots Country Auction and the Green Dragon. He opened his 1st retail store at Park City Center, Lancaster, and later at Towson Towne Center, Towson, MD, Tyson’s Corner Center, McClain, VA, New Philadelphia Mall, OH, Canton Mall, Canton, OH, and the Elyria Mall, Elyria, OH. After his retirement in 2007 from Bob’s Sports, he started Estate Liquidation Services. He was a member of the Lancaster County Funeral Directors Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. Bob also served two terms on the Board of Trustees of Elizabethtown College.

Surviving is a son M. Robert Young, Jr., Mountville; a daughter Stephanie Y. Faus, New Holland, 2 grandchildren Thomas A. Faus, Jr., Morghan Faus; and 1 great grandson Gabriel.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St., Mount Joy, on Wednesday December 10, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in West Green Tree Cemetery. There will be no viewing prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob’s memory may be sent to St. Jude’s Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN 38105.
