Mabel Lorraine Miranda, age 81, passed away peacefully after a long battle with multiple medical issues. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00 am at the San Juan Mission Church in Veguita, NM.

She is survived by her sister, Margie Garcia (Abran), and by her six children: Diane Winfrey, Jacqueline Bourke (Russell), Albert Miranda Jr (Carmen Mendoza), Michelle Smith (Robert), Debra Miranda, and Phillip Miranda (Heidi); her grandchildren Alexa Cavis (Jay Zamora), Brandon Cavis-Miranda, Breanna Miranda, Eric Miranda, Jacob Miranda, Peyton Smith, Baylee Smith, Megan Villalobos (Oscar), Adiah Miranda, Naomi Miranda, Samuel Miranda, and her great grandchildren, Angelyna Zamora, Ezryah Zamora, Cye Zamora, Aaliyah Miranda, Melanie Villalobos, and Maddox Villalobos. She leaves behind many nephews and nieces, as well as her sisters-in-law: Darlene, Pauline, Dolores, Rosie and Luby.
Mabel was well known for her loving, generous heart, and for her love of dogs, including Dusty, ChiChi, and Hudson. Her family was her life, and she enjoyed having family visit her and feeding them, always asking them to stay just a little bit longer. She was always very encouraging and supportive. She was an incredible cook and baker. There wasn't a time when she was constantly trying to improve herself. She took great care of her skin and hair, and was flattered when people complimented her and questioned her age. She loved listening to her Spanish music, going to the casino, and attending Spanish concerts, whether in person or on YouTube. But not as much as she loved her New Mexican Chili (the hotter the better!) She was curious about life and wanted to learn to play the guitar. Music lifted her spirits. She had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh.
Mabel was the backbone of her family and would have sacrificed everything for her family. She was a devoted wife of more than 35 years before her husband succumbed to cancer. Her strong belief in God carried her through her darkest moments and through her pain. She was a real mom, and a wonderful, supportive sibling. She enjoyed being a grandmother, and would drop everything to be with them. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace our angel.
We want to especially thank her caregivers, Debra Miranda, Breanna Miranda and Robin Vargas, who treated her with love, dignity and respect.
