Mabel Rosalie Nichols

Mabel Nichols, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024 at the age of 86.

Funeral Service will be 1 PM on Saturday, July 20th at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN with visitation an hour before from 12 - 1 PM and interment at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Mabel was known for her unconditional love, gentleness, patience, and resilience. She enjoyed meditation, spiritual groups, gardening, reading, and especially her family and friends. She was a tremendously spiritual person, offering guidance to others while also strengthening and deepening her own spiritual awareness.

From 1978-2017, Mabel owned and ran Coat of Many Colors—a small fair trade clothing shop along Grand Avenue in Saint Paul. She was well-known and well-liked by her customers and neighboring business owners.

In 1974-5, Mabel and her late husband Terence (Terry) built a warm and loving home together, and it became a refuge for those who were fortunate enough to experience it. On multiple occasions, they took in people who needed temporary housing without even charging them rent. Together, they raised three wonderful children and helped guide them through the difficult process that is life.

Mabel is survived by her children Michele (John) Cella and Peter; grandson Anthony Schreder; siblings Janet Schuh, Mary (Jerry) Steffen, Tony (Sharon) Wagner, Paul (Carol) Wagner, Mike (Karen Clarcey) Wagner, Carol (John) Brodke; sister-in-law Ellen Wagner and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Louise (Birschbach) Wagner; husband Terence "Terry"; daughter Theresa Nichols; brothers Peter and Joe (Vicki) Wagner and brother-in-law Norbie Schuh.

Memorials are preferred to Nature Conservancy
