Oh how I loved Mrs. Mabelle! Her humor and wit was truly one of a kind. Even in her late years, she was so energetic and child-like. When visiting her for many years in Richmond with my parents, her door was always open for she opitimized Virginia hospitality to a tee and beyond. My heart goes to her family and for the city of Richmond, for she will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on in all of us!

Mabelle will always live in my memory as the most unique and fun loving ladies I've ever known. Her wonderful home always felt welcome and I looked forward to her fabulously genuine smile greeting me at the door. The entertaining stories she had to tell - the bourbon balls I would still kill to have the recipe for - the old black telephone in the kitchen that my children truly believed had a private line to Santa - her beyond creative Chrismas gifts - her little stool by the fire - her singing "Delta Dawn" in that endearing raspy voice - just some of the indelible memories forever etched in my memory book. We will always miss and love you, Mabelle.
