Mable Lucy Boyd Balthrop of the Thomasville Community passed away on November 29, 2024, at Signature Health Care in Clarksville, Tennessee, at the age of 103.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o'clock pm, Monday, December 2nd, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Mike Scoggins officiating.
Burial will follow in Mallory's Methodist Church Cemetery with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 1st, from 1:00-5:00PM, and again on Monday beginning at 11:00AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mrs. Balthrop was born to George and Ida Fort Boyd on February 17, 1921. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesse Balthrop; her daughter, Betty Farmer; and grandson, Shane Ford; her sister, Bessie Farmer; and 3 brothers, Howard, Archie, and Bill Boyd.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Bonna (Larry) Rediker of Thomasville and Hilda (Jimmy) Ford of Ashland City.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Lisa Scoggins (Mike), Tammy Steele (Steven), Gary Ford (Missy), Melanie Ford, and Dawn Perry (Wesley), and David Farmer (Barbara); great-grandchildren, Ashley Perry, Kayla Ford, Jessie Chandler (Jarrod), Amanda Templeton (Luke), Slate Highers (Emily), Kaitlyn Steele, Brandon Farmer (Sherry), and W.T. Farmer; great-great-grandchildren, Erykah, Alexia, and Zayne, Cayden Chandler, Hudson Farmer, Avery, Casen, Kinsley, and Lane Farmer, and one on the way; niece, Jan Williams; and nephews, Mark and Ken Boyd.
She loved her family very much and was always ready to help them out when she was needed. After retiring from Acme Boot she enjoyed traveling, gardening, mowing her yard, sewing, and crocheting, and spending time with family and friends.
