Mac A. Guffey, 82, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Marion Health, surrounded by his loving family.
Mac was born on December 14, 1942, to the late Charles Guy Guffey and Ina Jewell (York) Guffey, in Cumberland City, Kentucky. Mac attended New Castle Chrysler High School, then joined the Army National Guard gaining the rank of Sergeant. A jack-of-all-trades, he worked as a mechanic for most of his life. He married Sandra Cochran on April 7, 1961, in New Castle, Indiana and she survives in Marion. Mac enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing stock cars, and racing motorcycles, but his main passion was spending time with his family.
Mac is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Tresa (Kevin) Raymer, Palm Harbor, Florida, Valisha (Mike) Cragun, Marion, and Mac (Bev) Guffey, Upland; grandchildren, Erin (Tim) Drew, Corey (Robert) Connelly, Katie and Sammie Cragun, and Kerri (Caleb) Miller; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Drew, Thea Connelly, and Samuel, Luke, and Isaac Miller; and brother-in-law, Anderson "Andy" Walters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ina, sister, Wanda Murleen Walters, and brother, Tom Mix (Violet) Guffey.
Arrangements for Mac have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Mac's wishes, there will be a private graveside service for the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, and the love Mac had for children and animals, donations may be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, or to Marion Animal Care and Control, 1021 State Road 18, Marion, Indiana 46952.
