Madaline "Helen" Segedi, 87, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, under the care of the Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing, Canonsburg.
She was born June 27, 1935, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Francis Cadonic and Genevieve Buchskanski. She was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville, and was employed for many years at Nemacolin Country Club along with her best friend, Aunt Ginny.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, Steve Segedi, who died October 21, 1988.
Helen loved all of her family members especially her grandchildren, each one her favorite. She made countless meals for her family and was an excellent cook while making the best nut rolls around. Rose gardening was a favorite pastime as well as shopping. She will be remembered for her giving nature and willingness to help others in all facets of life.
Surviving are sons, Mark Segedi (Isabelle) of Ellsworth, and Steve Segedi of Bentleyville; her daughter, Jennifer D'Orazio (Donald) of Scenery Hill; grandchildren, Mark Segedi of Bridgeville, Katlyn D'Orazio of Castle Hayne, N.C., Michael D'Orazio of Nashville, Tenn., and Madison Douglas of Los Angeles, Calif.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a brother, John Zacharopoulos; son, David Cronin; daughter, Jacqueline Segedi Douglas; and granddaughter, Christin Segedi.
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, in St. Katherine Drexel Parish, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Michael Peck officiating.
Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff at the Greenery Center that helped care for her.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Greenlee's Bentleyville Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville.
