Madeline DiTommaso

Madeline DiTommaso, of Hyde Park, passed away just shy of her 90th birthday on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie
Born on August 23, 1934, in Yonkers, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Concetta (D'Ambrosio) Fugaro.
Madeline enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and baking, especially for her family and friends. She was known for her homemade pizzelles and eggplant parmesan.
Mrs. DiTommaso attended St. Peter's parish in Hyde Park.
After raising her family, she worked full time at IBM, Poughkeepsie as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1993.
On September 19, 1953, she married Joseph DiTommaso in Yonkers, and celebrated 66 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2020. Together they resided in Fishkill and Vermont, before settling down in Hyde Park.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Evans (Peter) of Wappingers Falls, Joseph DiTommaso (Cindy) of Oklahoma City, Alfred DiTommaso (Brenda) of South Carolina, and Connie DiTommaso of Poughkeepsie.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her surviving grandchildren include Michael Evans (Meaghan); Amanda Favale (Chris); Joseph DiTommaso (Chauntel); Christina McBride (Matt); Joseph DiTommaso (Liza); Amy Williams (Brennan); and Corinne Fudacz (Greg); and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Madeline was predeceased by her great grandson, Nathan McBride; brothers, Peter, Patsy, John, and Frank Fugaro; and sister, Mary Sciarpelletti.
Calling hours will be from 11 AM to 2 PM, on Saturday, August 17th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will take place at 1 PM during the visitation.
In keeping with Madeline's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral service and her ashes will be buried privately alongside her beloved husband, Joe, at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
