Anne Barrett Obituary
August 20, 1935 - September 11, 2025
Anne R. Barrett, 90, of Forest, passed away peacefully in Arden, N.C., on Thursday, September 11, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents; brother-in-law, Gene Goley; and her late husband of 55 years, David Wood Barrett.
She was born Tuesday, August 20, 1935, to the late duVal and Katherine Radford in Lynchburg. After graduating from St. Catherine's Preparatory School in Richmond, Va., she went on to finish her Associate degree from St. Mary's Junior College in Maryland.
Anne retired from Lynchburg City Schools where she worked as an Assistant Librarian at E.C. Glass High School. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, a member of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as a member of the Fort Hill Women's Club. She was also active in the Bedford Book Forum.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her three children, Winston Barrett (Diane), Marie B. Case (Ed), and John Barrett (Lori); her grandchildren; her sister, Laura Goley; and countless nieces and nephews.
A service will be conducted by the Reverend Matt Rhodes on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1695 Perrowville Rd., Forest, VA 24551, with burial following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in memory of Anne to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
