Madeline Elinor Merrell (nee Bliley) 97 passed away at St Augustine Manor, Sunday, April 27, 2014. Born October 19, 1916 to Albert and Maude (nee Parkhurst) Bliley she was a 1934 graduate of Shaw High School. She attended the Cleveland Institute of Art. As her girls were growing up she was an integral part of their lives being active in Brownies and Girls Scouts on the council level and a member of the Rocky River PTA. She was also an active member of her community as a member of the Beachcliff Women's Club and the League of Women Voters. In her spare time she kept her self busy as one who was a lover of books, art, and travel and was an accomplished enamelist, quilter and crocheter. Madeline is survived by daughters Myra Merrell Kasper (Ronald) of Avon, Genie Merrell (Gil) of Tennessee, granddaughter Vicki Schmoyer (Brian), grandson Joshua Wynne (Stef) and great grandchildren Evie and Kyla. She is preceded in death by her husband Roswell P. Merrell, Jr. and her parents Albert and Maude (nee Parkhurst) Bliley. Memorial Contributions may be forwarded to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon from 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday, May 1. A private graveside service will be held at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River.
