On September 16, 2025 our beloved mother Madeline earned her angel wings.;born Madeline Florence Steiner on June 29 1937 to Marie and William Steiner of West New York NJ originally from Germany. She was an only child and raised by a single mom beginning at age 9 after her father unexpectedly passed.
She married Charles LaCarrubba November 2 1958. They lived in Westfield NJ and had two children, Teresa/Terry and Laura. In 1963 they moved to Long Island, initially Kings Park and then built a house in Smithtown. For a few years they relocated to Macon GA where Madeline earned her private pilot license. After returning to LI she became a leader in the Girl Scouts, an active member of the 99's (a woman's pilot organization founded by Amelia Earhart), a religion teacher and active member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Hauppauge and a travel agent.
Animals and traveling were her passion. We had a menagerie - not just dogs and cats, but fish, mice, chickens, birds and even a raccoon. She traveled the world, from dog sledding in Alaska to walking the Great Wall of China.
She was a grandmother to Matthew (Leah), Timothy, Nicole, Kayla and great grandmother to Velia.
She is now reunited with her parents and all of her furry and feathered friends waiting for her at the rainbow bridge.
