There are moments that divide a life into "before" and "after." The loss of Madison "Madi" Riley Hull, 23, on November 21, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, is one of those moments.
Madi was born on October 2, 2002, in Galveston, Tx to Jennifer Hubbell and Erik Hull. She grew up in Tyler where she lived a life full of love, laughter, and a presence unmistakably her own. She graduated Legacy High School in 2021 and attended Tyler Junior College where she earned her Associate's of Arts in Teaching: Elementary Education, before transferring to the University of Texas at Tyler, to complete her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. She was set to graduate in May of 2026.Teaching was Madi's true calling. She was deeply committed to helping young minds grow, question, and think independently. After graduation she had plans to move to Colorado and open a Montessori School, modeled after the teachings of Maria Montessori.
Madison was love in motion. She was sarcastic, quick-witted, and unafraid to speak the truth. She always spoke up, always stepped in, and she championed the vulnerable and never let an injustice pass unnoticed. She shared an extraordinary bond with her little brother, Tate. To him she wasn't just "Sissy," but his best friend, his confidant, his partner in crime, and his safe place to fall. So much of his world was shaped by the love she gave him.
She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Hubbell; father, Erik Hull; brother, Tate Rodriguez and his father, Jacob Rodriguez; unbiological sister, Kayla Miller; sister, Micaela Flores; grandmother, Judy Breault; aunts, Kimberley Peters (Ravyn) and Annabelle Stockton; her longtime boyfriend, James "JT" Stone; and numerous siblings on her father's side that are all connected to her in their own meaningful ways.
She was preceded in death by her aunt, Jessica Breault.
A celebration of life will be held for Madi at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Hilliard Funeral Home, 386 N. Maple, Van, Texas 75790.
"There is a land of the living and a land of the dead, and the bridge is love. The only survival, the only means." Madi's love is the bridge that connects us to her still.
