Mae Kathryn Oss, aged 82, of Taylor, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 in the same town where she was born to Clarence and Amanda Oss on May 24, 1944.
Mae was a woman of brilliance, energy, and warmth. She was baptized and later confirmed at Ridgeway Lutheran Church. She graduated as Valedictorian from Taylor High School and built a career in advertising and sales, before retiring in 2006. Mae's drive for excellence was not confined to her professional life; she brought that same vigor and passion to her personal life as well.
A proud mother and grandmother, Mae's family was her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Amanda Oss. She is survived by her sons, Scott and Todd Boutin (Debbie), her daughter Simone Boutin-Atwood (Gary), and her many grandchildren: Detisha, Christopher, Jacque, Diana, Sarah, Tamara, Shawn, Haven, and Haleigh. She also leaves behind several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mae loved being present for her family's triumphs, always making a point to celebrate their achievements.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mae could often be found cheering on her beloved NDSU Bison, the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Cubs, or the San Antonio Spurs. She lived for the weekends, where she reveled in the thrill of the game. Beyond sports, Mae had a fondness for card games such as pinochle, gin rummy, and cribbage. Many an evening was spent in laughter and friendly competition around the board games with her children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Benedictine for their compassionate care of Mae.
Mae's love, wit, and vivacious spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mae's honor to Home on the range.
As we remember and celebrate the life of Mae Kathryn Oss, let us take comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable life.
In accordance with Mae's wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.
