Mae Cardwell Pennell, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on December 4,2023, surrounded by family.
Mae was born and raised in raised in Wilkesboro and graduated from West Wilkes High School. She married the love of her life, Steve Pennell, in 1972, after a whirlwind courtship. She has since been a resident of Alexander County in the Ellendale community. She was a loving mother to Heather. Mae retired from Century Furniture in 2020 after a long career in the furniture industry. Mae loved to travel, read, dance, and dote on her cat, Winston.
She will be missed by Steve, Heather, her son-in-law Justin, as well as her surviving siblings, in-laws, many nieces and nephews. The family will celebrate her life privately.
